20th Nov, 19

Cisco Systems held its annual Cisco Academy Safari Conference from 19 - 20 June 2018. The conference was held in Port Elizabeth at the Nelson Mandela University, North Campus. The theme of the conference was "Cybersecurity".

The conference had a record attendance of more than 120 attendees which was a huge success despite the short notice that was given to arrange it. The School of ICT and the Southern Africa Cisco Academy Support Centre (an entity in the EBEIT Faculty) made amazing presentations.  Mr Gratitude Kudyachete and Prof Kerry-Lynn Thomson made a presentation titled "Curriculum Intergration: Cybersecurity". The CRICS Research unit also made a powerful presentation on Cybersecurity titled "Defining The Digital You". There were 17 trainees who took part in the post-conference training in the new course called CCNA Cybersecurity operations course.

Mr Luzuko Tekeni , a Cisco Academy Instructor at  the Nelson Mandela Univerity did the institution some pride by winning and "Instructor Excellence" Award.
